Greetings and welcome to my Pocket of Resistance!
If you want superpowers of your own, you’ve come to the right place.
Stick around here and take on these hands-on tutorials, and pretty soon, you will obtain the power to make the whole world see you exactly the way you dreamed you could.
You’ll feel gorgeous and armoured against anything life could throw at you. People you meet will suspect you of being a secret immortal, because how else could you be so amazingly talented and look so fabulous all the time?
What is this blog?
First, head here to learn about the power of being a maker, what this blog is all about, and why it’s about to make you much, much happier.
I also do try to make it fun to read, not a militant paint-by-numbers DIY slog!
If you hate reading, this is not the blog for you. Go forth and find something with lots of beautiful pictures, preferably with kittens in.
If your favourite thing to do is read droll prose (while accidentally learning how to become stunning and conquer the world), you have come home.
How to get started
If you’re ready to launch into some hands-on projects, take a moment to learn how I’ve organized things. You’ll have a much easier time finding what you want if you do!
Posts on this blog are organized into the following broad categories. Head here for a more detailed explanation of what they contain.
- Informative articles
- Beginner DIY
- Intermediate DIY
- Advanced DIY
- Adventure Stories with Aunt Kitty
Aunt Kitty’s Rating System
Insofar as it’s possible, I’ll rate each hands-on tutorial according to the following criteria:
- Materials: How easy or hard are the materials to find, and how much will it cost?
- Equipment: How much special tools and machinery, if any, do you need to complete the project?
- Effort: How much work will it take?
- Difficulty: How hard is it to do? This is not quite the same thing as effort. Some things are easy but take loads of work, and other things take skill but not too much effort!

If you’re wondering why you’d want to listen to my sewing, fitting, and creative advice, visit my website and corset site. I did personally design and hand-made every single thing you see there, so I probably knows a couple of things worth sharing.
